“Happy blending of cosmopolitan and rustic lifestyle” describes Negros Occidental, the sugar capital of the Philippines, this year’s venue of the 79th PVMA Annual Convention and Scientific Conference. The convention will be held on February 15 to 17, 2012 at the L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, a -less than an hour-flight from Manila. Bacolod, the City of Smiles, is known to attract yearly thousands of spectators for the MassKara Festival, a nineteen day-festivity, within the month of October that features street-dancers in their colorful and elaborate masks of smiling faces.

The first of series of collaborative meetings of PVMA with the local chapter, PVMA Western Visayas, under the leadership of Dr. Nachito Baylon, and the Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Dr. Renante Decena, was held. They expressed strong support in hosting the event and further reinforced with support coming from the office of the provincial governor Honorable Alfredo G. Maranon, Jr.
